How To Volunteer

We welcome all who wish to volunteer with the FLHF

You’ll have seen many of us in the Maintenance Team working in the fields to enhance the area – but not all volunteering demands physical activity!

We also have many volunteers beavering away behind the scenes.  These include our History Group, Map and Signs Group and our Flora and Fauna Team.  We also have a Photographic Group who take photos of the fields and collate them for our website Gallery.  Volunteers also update and maintain our Website, Instagram and Facebook. The members of these groups have special expertise and interest in these areas and their knowledge has been and is invaluable. If you’d like more information and would like to join them, you’ll be most welcome. Please contact us on lyncombehillfields@gmail.com

Bird Watching

A number of us typically meet on the first Saturday of each month to monitor which birds are flying in our fields over the different seasons.  If this is something you’d like to learn about and/or join us please contact us on lyncombehillfields@gmail.com

Maintenance Team (MT)

Typically up to 12 people join us on Sunday and Wednesday mornings for a working session from 10.00 to 12.00.  (In the summer months we move these to be 09.00 to 11.00, and add a Wednesday evening 19.00 to 20.30 session).  You can come as often or as infrequently as you wish.  In doing so you will do your bit to improve the local environment and community, and improve your health. We will teach you new skills, and you will find that this is a very sociable activity.  There are no fees; all it costs is your time.

How it works

  • Please contact us on lyncombehillfields@gmail.com You’ll receive an email with all relevant information and a request for you to join our WhatsApp Group. (If you’re not on WhatsApp we’ll send you weekly information via email)
  • On the day prior to a work day, you’ll receive a message on WhatsApp telling you which tasks we’ll be tackling that day and which tools to bring (we ask you to bring your own tools please).  Volunteers post photos of what we’ve been up to on the WhatsApp so we all keep in touch as well as know what’s happening.

The work we do

You may have seen us doing a variety of tasks – all varying from heavy to light.  There is usually a selection of work on each day so you can choose what to do and we often we change at ‘half time’ to vary the pace. There is something for everyone.

The photos above show you some of our activities over the year.  Please look at the links below for further information for the work we do in the fields.
