OUR ANNUAL CYCLE OF WORK IN THE FIELDS
We have established an annual cyclical programme of work, the
main elements of which are as follows:
WINTER/SPRING

Trees:
Replacing damaged saplings, filling in gaps in hedgerows; weeding, mulching and monitoring.
Planting out small seed-grown saplings in the Tree nursery.
Hedging:
Pruning some smaller bushes in the hedgerows.
Paths:
Adding recycled stone to maintain condition.
SUMMER/AUTUMN

Mowing and Raking the Meadows:
Mowing at different times, to maximise development of wildflowers.
Raking of cut materials and using this for mulching where possible.
Preparing mature saplings to be collected from the Tree Nursery
Seeding:
Sowing wildflower seed if available.
Other projects can be carried out at any time, as is general surveillance of the fields including litter picking and alerting the public where possible,
using a coloured spray, to any dog poo that may be a health hazard.
